HISTORY

Dominique is an active jewelry designer, working for major companies in France, then in the US.

He teaches design at the Fashion Institute of technology of New York.

Beside his professional career, he has developed a strong interest for the Asia and particularly China.

After many trips in the main land, and meeting with great artists, he decided to embark on a personal project. From an approach that long remains unconscious, but becoming clear later on. He built the “Melody of China”. The inspiration is the typical musical instruments, played by ladies wearing traditional costumes.

The shape and the sound, so particular of those instruments, ancient and traditional, define the mystery of the Imperial China said Dominique.

The goal was to keep a “Chinese” rendering flavor, preserving the charm and the mystic mood, although using a different Technic. Here he chooses hard pastel, versus a classic Chinese watercolor.

The first collection includes art work average dimensions 30’’x20’’ (75cmx50cm). Medium: pastel on various papers. The instruments include:

Pipa, Liuqin, Erhu, Dizi, Bawu, Yueqin, Ruanqin, Guzheng.

2013: Confucius institute, SUNY state university of New York hosted his first solo exhibition.

2014:His work was displayed at Agora a New York Chelsea Gallery.

2016: Dominique exhibits at the New York art show pier 94.
